Stage 1: Prospect

“I’m still browsing courses” You’re exploring your options, researching courses and universities, and building your shortlist. This stage typically includes Year 10-13 students, gap year students, or anyone considering university.

Stage 2: Offer Holder

“I know which course I’m taking” You’ve received offers or made your firm choice. Chapter now focuses on helping you prepare for university, compare your final options, and make informed decisions.

What changes

When you update your status to Offer Holder, Chapter transforms:

Add up to 5 courses (matching UCAS choices):
  • Mark one as Firm (your first choice)
  • Mark one as Insurance (your backup)
  • Mark others as Additional choices
Chapter uses this to show you relevant accommodation, societies, and events for your chosen universities.

Set your planned start year

Tell Chapter when you plan to start university (e.g., September 2026). This helps with:
  • Timeline planning and deadline tracking
  • Age-appropriate event recommendations
  • Connecting you with students in the same intake

Moving from prospect to offer holder: You can switch your status anytime in Settings. Chapter will ask if you want to add your firm choice course and start date.

Stage 3: Enrolled

“I’m already at uni” You’re now a university student! Chapter becomes your campus companion, helping you manage lectures, connect with coursemates, and make the most of student life.

When you update to Enrolled status:

Depending on your new status, you may be asked to:
  • Add or remove your university
  • Set your course

  • Add your planned start date
Chapter will immediately adjust to show relevant features for your new stage.
Changing your enrollment status will affect which widgets, tabs, and features you see. Some data (like shortlists and messages) persists across stages, but others (like timetables) are stage-specific.
